Stumped on what to bring ? Let me help you
Bringing fun accessories to your senior photo session can add a unique touch to your portraits. Here are some ideas:
- Hats: A stylish hat can add flair to your photos and showcase your personality. I love hats and think they are fun for a few photos !!
- Sunglasses: Cool shades can add a touch of mystery and style to your look.
- Letterman Jacket: If you have one, a letterman jacket can represent your high school achievements.
- Musical Instrument: If you play an instrument, consider bringing it along to incorporate your passion into the photos. How fun also to bring or print out sheet music and have it all around you for some of the photos.
- Sports Gear: If you're an athlete, bringing your sports equipment or jersey can showcase your dedication to a particular sport. Please be sure to bring ALL sports equipment/balls/helmets/shoes. It's better to over pack then to not have something I might have an artistic vision for.
- Books: If you're an avid reader or love learning, bringing a stack of books can reflect your interests. I love it when a senior brings a fav book.
- Art Supplies: For the creatively inclined, art supplies like a sketchbook or paint palette can highlight your artistic side.
- Vintage Props: Consider bringing vintage items like a retro camera, record player, or classic car if you have access to them.
- Dancer/Cheer: Are you a Dancer, Cheerleader, Dance Team ? Bring all your costumes, dance shoes and anything you have from your dance career !
- Pets: If you have a beloved pet, bringing them along can lead to adorable and meaningful shots. I am a huge dog fan so you can always bring a dog !!
- Flowers: Some of my seniors in the past have also brought a bouquet of flowers and this is always a classic look.
- Jewelry: I love when a senior thinks about what jewlery to bring. I love a fun pop of color, bracletts, necklace and earrings. I am NOT a fan of an apple watch or fit bit in your photos and would love for you to come without it on. If you wear a bracelet as a memorial for someone that's between you and your parent if you are going to leave it on.
- Car/Motorcycle/Bicycle: Let me know if you want to incorporate either one and we can make this happen !!! Especially if you want to do a wheelie !!! LOL
- College Gear: Bring your College/Grad SWAG if you got it !!!!
- HUNTING: If you are into hunting, let's shoot it ! We have to be very careful and choose a location that's appropriate and safe but I have private property we can do that at and maybe you have some we can hold the session at also. Let's chat !
Remember, the accessories should complement your outfits and represent your personality and interests. You can also bring something that might challenge your sense of style and stretch your style a little bit and you would be surprised at how good it might look. Choose items that feel authentic to you and contribute to the overall story and vibe you want to tell with your senior portraits. I also suggest when working your your parent to have a few outfits that work for both you and your parent. Sometimes the senior and the parent will have different ideas of what they want the final image outfit to look like. This is when using some compromise and working together to know that each of you can have an outfit or two that you will want to see in the final gallery.
I know that you are seeing all girls below but I do photograph a lot of senior guys also and am working on a blog post all about them also !!! Lots of the info above does apply to the DUDES also but I will post a specific blog post about them soon also !!!
Hope to see you in front of my camera soon !!!
