MEAGEN D. - Class of 2023 VArsity model team
1. How did you feel being photographed without makeup? What did you learn about yourself?
Being photographed without makeup was definitely a change for me, in a good way. I learned that I don’t need to wear makeup every time and that my natural beauty is enough. I also learned that everyone is uniquely beautiful in their own way, and we shouldn't have to feel the need to compare ourselves to others.
2. Tell me about a time when someone made you feel bad about your appearance. How did you deal with it or overcome it?
I personally have not experienced this, because I try to avoid all the negative things that people have to say. I believe that kindness has the potential to make the world a happier place.
3. What characteristics and traits do you think make you beautiful? What makes others truly beautiful?
Confidence really shows the true beauty in someone. When you are self-loving and self-aware, you experience personal growth. Being humble is also another good characteristic. Humble means you do things out of the kindness of your heart, without expecting anything in return, and I think that really shows someone’s personality very well.
4. What do you think this project does for girls’ confidence? What can they learn about themselves?
The world places so much emphasis on physical attractiveness, that it starts to compare you to models on a magazine, and even social media stars. This project shows girls like me that each of us is uniquely beautiful, and each of us has the capability to increase our beauty by increasing the closeness of the relationships we have with friends and family
5. WHAT DOES TRUE BEAUTY MEAN TO YOU?
True beauty to me means that we radiate real beauty, and the happiness from ourselves to others. We are most beautiful when we are reaching out and loving, helping, and lifting others up. Makeup can enhance appearance, but none of it can compete with natural beauty.
