1. HOW DID YOU FEEL BEING PHOTOGRAPHED WITHOUT MAKEUP? WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF?
I felt very confident. I learned that makeup is used to feel more comfortable in your skin, but to me it makes me feel like I’m wearing a mask, and now I try to wear makeup
less and less often.
2. TELL ME ABOUT A TIME WHEN SOMEONE MADE YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT YOUR APPEARANCE. HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH IT OR OVERCOME IT?
My whole life I’ve been super self conscious of my smile and I never wanted to smile with my teeth, but eventually I got my braces off and started to become more confident. Now I love smiling with my teeth and showing them off to people because when I’m smiling, that’s when I’m at my true happiness.
3. WHAT CHARACTERISTICS AND TRAITS DO YOU THINK MAKE YOU BEAUTIFUL? WHAT MAKES OTHERS TRULY BEAUTIFUL?
I really believe beauty is subjective. Beauty means something different to everyone and everyone feels beautiful at different times. I think my eyes and smile brighten my whole face and make me feel beautiful. I think people who think they are beautiful, are beautiful. We need to support each other and believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way.
4. WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS PROJECT DOES FOR GIRLS’ CONFIDENCE? WHAT CAN THEY LEARN ABOUT THEMSELVES?
This project was amazing. You hyping me up while getting my pictures taken made me feel so confident. Once the pictures are posted I think we can see and learn that there isn’t a big difference. Most people won’t realize you aren’t wearing makeup and no one will call you out on it. This should really help everyone’s confidence.
5. WHAT DOES TRUE BEAUTY MEAN TO YOU?
I think true beauty is from deep within. People can have a beautiful face, but if their personality isn’t pretty, they aren’t pretty. It’s about having a beautiful soul, and a beautiful mind.
